Location and campuses

History and Heritage
The University of Osaka traces its origins to two pioneering academies: Kaitokudo (established in 1724) and Tekijuku (1838), both known for advancing education and intellectual inquiry in Japan.
Officially founded as Osaka Imperial University in 1931, the institution has evolved into a modern global university. Its long-standing tradition of innovation and academic freedom continues to shape its research excellence and societal contributions today.
