Future career prospects
Brunel University of London is a career-oriented institution providing a range of services through its Student Professional Development Team. The team offers personalised career guidance including job seeking, CV writing and interview training, as well as organising networking events and career workshops throughout the year where postgraduate students can meet with recruiters and professional representatives.
A growing number of postgraduate courses now offer placement opportunities, giving students hands-on industry experience relevant to their studies. To check if specific courses offer a placement option, students can view the course pages.
Brunel University of London graduates have gone on to become leaders at major companies including Barclays, Centrica and JP Morgan. Others have become judges, MPs and successful entrepreneurs. Brunel University of London alumni also include many household names in the arts and media industries, alongside Olympic, Paralympic, World and Commonwealth champions in a range of sports.
English language support
For students whose level of English does not meet the entry requirements for their course, they can attend an English language course at the Brunel University of London Language Centre. The Centre can support students before and during their studies, and the English language requirements differ according to specific courses.
To help students meet their entry requirements, Brunel runs pre-sessional English courses lasting from 4–42 weeks. For more information (including start dates for pre-sessional English, fees and how to apply), students can visit the Brunel University of London Language Centre.
The university also offers free support with academic English to all students whose first language is not English.
Facilities and support arrangements
Brunel has world-class teaching and learning facilities including state-of-the-art labs, clinical practice rooms, drama and performance studios, a visual effects studio/green room and impressive sports facilities including an indoor athletics centre.
Postgraduate students have a dedicated study area in the library which is open 24/7 during term-time.
Support is available for mental health issues, faith and religion, as well as for students with disabilities. A £250 million investment for our campus has seen massive changes in the university’s physical environment, and the needs of disabled students have played an important part in this development.
Our accommodation, academic and teaching areas, and social spaces are accessible to students with mobility difficulties. We have annual services carried out by AccessAble to ensure that we are improving on the accessibility of all our facilities. Equally, we work hard to ensure all our electronic information is accessible, and that we’re up to date with new assistive technologies.
Fees, funding and costs
The university offers a range of scholarships and bursaries to newly enrolled students. To be considered for a scholarship, students will need to hold an offer for a Brunel course. Some of the scholarships require an application to be submitted.
Bursaries are based on under-represented criteria, and most do not require an application. Our Vice-Chancellor's Postgraduate International Excellence Award offers a £6,000 fee reduction for self-funded international students enrolled on our postgraduate taught courses.
Visit our website for more information on Scholarships and bursaries.
Location
Brunel is based in west London and students are just a tube ride away from the heart of London city; students can also enjoy the beautiful English countryside near to Brunel.
The university is easy to reach by bus, rail or road, and is just a short walk from Uxbridge Underground Station. It is 15 minutes from Heathrow by car and our proximity to central London offers great opportunities for work placements and careers.
You’ll feel safe on our all-in-one campus, and our dedicated security team patrols the campus 24/7 to ensure student safety.
Accommodation
Brunel guarantees accommodation on-campus for all new students who meet their course conditions and apply for a room by the end of August. For courses starting in January, applications for a room on campus will be prioritised during the following months.
For students who prefer to live off campus, there’s a wide choice of housing near Brunel with good bus routes to campus.
Culture
As a single-site campus university, everything that students need is within a 10-minute walk including a small supermarket, bar, cafés, and a medical centre.
Socialising on campus couldn’t be easier with a choice of food outlets, coffee shops, student bar Loco’s and The Venue nightclub.
The Junction offers a huge range of food including pan-Asian, sub-Asian, burgers and wings, freshly prepared burritos and pizzas. There is also a Subway on campus.
There are over 100 clubs and societies on offer, including sports, cultural and subject-specific groups.
The campus also benefits from a thriving arts and culture scene, and students are encouraged to develop creative skills whether that’s painting, singing, acting or something else.
How to apply
Students should find the course they are interested in using the Course Finder. There will be an 'Apply' button on the right-hand side of the page if the course is currently open for applications.
Students are recommended to apply as soon as possible as courses in high demand often reach capacity and may need to close early.
