Job description

An all-American tradition, between Jun-Aug each year, children and teenagers from across America attend sleepaway and day camps for the summer. From coast to coast, Camp Directors hire like-minded 18-30s from all over the world to help run the USA summer camps. Roles such as for General Counsellors, Activity Counsellors and Additional Needs Counsellors – or a hybrid role where you do a bit of everything.

It’s the chance to work abroad each summer, make lifelong friends, and turn your passion into a paid job.

Below is not a real job listing, but an example of one of the many positions on offer through our Summer Camp USA program.

Job functions

  • Oversee a group of campers, ensuring their safety, well-being, and active participation in camp activities.
  • Plan, organize, and lead various camp activities, including sports, arts and crafts, outdoor adventures, and team-building exercises.
  • Serve as a positive role model, offering guidance, support, and encouragement to campers throughout their camp journey.
  • Address and mediate any camper conflicts or concerns, promoting a harmonious and respectful camp atmosphere.
  • Work closely with fellow counsellors and camp staff to coordinate activities, share responsibilities, and maintain a cohesive camp environment.
  • Adhere to all camp policies and procedures, ensuring a safe environment for all participants.

What we are looking for

  • Must be at least 18 years old by June 1st the year of your camp booking.
  • Previous experience working with children or in a camp setting is highly desirable.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Special talents (e.g., sports, arts, music, outdoor skills) are a plus.
  • Energetic, compassionate, patient, and adaptable with a genuine passion for working with youth.
  • Childcare experience
